Dr. John Miller (Sitting) owned Covina Animal Hospital from 1950 - 1984. Dr. Elton Chatfield, was Dr. Miller's partner and became the owner from 1984 - 1994. Dr. Annette Ortmayer has been the owner of Covina Animal Hospital since 1994. |

Gerial N. Miller graduated from San Francisco Veterinary College in 1915. He and his wife, Atha, founded Covina Animal Hospital in 1922. The original part of the current building was built in 1939. |

| Dr. John H. Miller, son of Gerial and Atha Miller, graduated from Washington State University in 1944. When Gerial Miller died suddenly of a heart attack in 1950, his son John (known to most as "Jack") assumed ownership of Covina Animal Hospital. Dr. Miller was the primary veterinarian in the San Gabriel Valley for years servicing large and small animals. In 1962 Dr. Elton Chatfield came to Covina and joined the practice. Dr. Chatfield became Dr. Miller's partner in 1965 and full owner in 1984. | ![]() |
